Children & Youth

Youth and Worship leaders have started.

We are delighted to welcome Sam and Gema who  joined us in September 2019 as Pastoral Assistants - Gemma focusing on Youth and Sam on Worship.

We are very excited about developing our church work with them both.

Children and Youth are central to all our lives and the Benefice works hard to ensure there are many ways in which the young can enjoy church. There are different activities and groups tailored to meet particular needs, as well as specific Sunday services that are particularly welcoming of young families.  Bentley’s church has the best space to accommodate children’s activities so is the main focus of the Benefice’s youth work.

Our vicar, Yann Dubreuil, liaises closely with both the local Church of England primary schools in Bentley and Binsted in his capacity as a school governor; he also gives weekly Christian themed assemblies at both schools. The children’s work at Bentley, aimed at children 4-16 years old, is centred round age related teaching during family services.  Additionally in Froyle there is a small Sunday school and at Binsted there is a monthly 'Messy Church' service (held at Binsted School) for children and their families.  The youth work, aimed at the transition and secondary school ages (11-16 years old and college to 18 years) is coordinated by Pippa Blizzard and their meeting times are mainly outside of regular church services.

Bentley Church Children’s Special Events

Children’s parties are arranged at special times of the year by members of Bentley Church and held at the local village hall in Bentley.  Parties have had themes such as a Light party at Halloween, Easter parties and Christmas parties. Tickets are sold at the local school for these events. In addition to providing teaching at Church, the Children's Church team also arrange fun Shared Lunch events with the children.  Please do feel free to contact Yann or Pippa if you are not quite sure how to get involved.  We have an enthusiastic team of, trained and DBS checked, volunteer group leaders and teachers but of course we are keen to hear from anyone who has some special skills or time to help with children’s activities.
